Adding Shapes With Microsoft Office 2007

Shapes are objects that you can manipulate in many ways to create interesting and eye-catching effects. Furthermore, you may use shapes as containers for text, producing all kinds of interestingly shaped special effects. Shapes are available in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Publisher and in the Outlook Editor.

To create a shape, first you need to click in the document where you want to insert a shape. Then you go into the insert tab, click shapes and then you click the shape you want in the gallery that appears. If you are using Publisher, you will need to click autoshapes on the objects toolbar, and then point to a type of shape and choose the shape you want from the submenu that appears.

Now you have done that, you will need to hold down the left mouse button, and drag the shape to the position that you prefer. Furthermore, you can drag the sizing handles, which will allow you to change the size of the drawing, drag the adjustment handle to rotate the drawing, and drag the adjustment handle to reshape the drawing. After you have finished making these adjustments, simply drag the shape to where you want it. Unless you are using Publisher, you will also be able to use the tools on the drawing tools format tab to customize the appearance of the shape.

To conclude, including shapes in your documents can be used to make it look overall more interesting and appealing. You can also contain text within the shapes to make advertising blurbs, pull quotes and callouts. Overall, shapes make your document look less boring and can be used to spice up a dull document.
