Generally when your computer downloads the updates, Windows will give you a dialogue that allows you to see which updates are most important and which are not. Click install, and Windows will begin the process of updating your computer.

Once the Windows update installer is completed, it will prompt you for a restart. You generally need to reboot your computer after you do an update in order for all of the new security updates and other software updates to take effect. You can tell Windows that you do not want to reboot your computer right away, but you should reboot it as soon as possible so that you can start taking advantage of the new security updates that you installed and all of the benefits that they have to offer you.
