Resolving the Microsoft Outlook Express Not Responding Error Message!

Microsoft Outlook Express is an email client. It's an email set up on your computer system only. It's different from Web mail on which you can check your mail messages for as long as there is an Internet connection; or checking your mail messages through a website. There are many Outlook Express users suffer from responding error messages. Well, we should think that there are different responding error messages by the said email client.

In order for you to manage those responding error messages, here are some tips to resolve them like a Pro.

MICROSOFT SECURITY

The most common causes of error messages are due to internet connectivity issues or account settings are configured incorrectly. You have to verify if there is an internet connection. If there is an internet connection, try to do a test mail; send an email to yourself. If you still receive an error message, verify the account settings.

Have the latest update on your Windows operating system. You should run the Windows operating system updater program. The latest update would seal security holes and also correct errors that crept during the course of programming.

Update the anti-virus on your computer. The cause of a sudden responding problem of email client is due to virus-contained emails that entered your inbox. We also recommend running a full system scan.

It has Faulty or corrupt storage folders. The email message has a virus on the corrupted files, causing Outlook Express to crash. If you delete the folder files manually, you will lose all the email stored in it so backup is recommended. You can either take a full backup of Outlook Express Email or simply select the messages you want and drag them to a temporary folder. Then manually delete the Inbox.dbx file and restart Outlook Express.

Reinstall the Outlook Express program. This is our last resort; you can try it with Internet Explorer version 6 set up file which is available from oldversion.com.

Online Scheduling Software Versus Microsoft Outlook - The Difference is in the Functionality

When it comes to e-mail and office communication, few applications are as familiar as Microsoft Outlook. From small businesses and independent contractors to large corporations, Outlook is a trusted component relied upon for numerous daily transactions. And since it often comes standard with many computers as part of the Microsoft Operating System, many individuals also use it for personal tasks.

microsoft security essentials

For many users, Outlook is synonymous with e-mail. However, the program offers additional features, such as Outlook Calendar, which can help organize schedules, events, meetings and other activities, both personal and professional. It's an effective tool for in-office and business-to-business communication, as it offers users the ability to create, manage and invite individuals to meetings and events. It can also synchronize with mobile devices and other technologies, so that the user can easily access it when away from his or her personal or laptop computer.

MICROSOFT SECURITY

Because of its functionality, some small businesses and organizations rely upon Outlook Calendar for their appointment- and reservation-scheduling needs. In certain instances, it's all that's needed. But in most circumstances, it doesn't provide the full-range of features required to automate and streamline scheduling for their customers, patients and students. For these important tasks, the solution is Web-based scheduling software.

HOW OUTLOOK CALENDAR DIFFERS FROM ONLINE APPOINTMENT SCHEDULING SOFTWARE

One of the most obvious differences between Web-based appointment scheduling software and Outlook Calendar is their design. Although used for many different purposes, Outlook functions best in an inter-office or business-to-business environment where the majority of the communication and tasks conducted are between staff, contractors, consultants and other individuals affiliated with the operations. It does give the calendar administrator the ability to share, send and even publish the calendar online. In instances of calendar-sharing, permission to access a calendar is necessary.

Because it is a calendar, some owners, operators and staff utilize it for scheduling services and to book reservations. There are several methods they may implement: as an internal scheduler, whereby they continue to take appointments and reservations over the phone and then manually enter them into Outlook Calendar; e-mail the calendar to a customer, patient or student to view availability and choose his or her appointment times; and allow clientele to access their calendar and book their appointments, which requires a Microsoft Exchange interface (and also may present significant security concerns).

Although more efficient than a paper appointment book and pen, its core function as an internal calendar can create problems for businesses and organizations looking to automate and improve their appointment-scheduling procedures. This is especially true if the owner, administrator or staff wishes to offer customer self-scheduling using the Outlook Calendar.

Factors contributing to this include:

• Connectivity, Accessibility and Security. To interface with customers, both parties must have an Outlook Exchange connection. This differs from online appointment-scheduling software, which customers, patients and students access from a Web site. The Outlook Exchange connection presents numerous challenges, including security issues by allowing access and limiting the number of clientele that can use the system, especially those that do not utilize Outlook. Additionally, access to an Outlook Calendar will give customers a view of not only business or organization services, but also personal items, if the operation does not create a separate, "services-only" calendar.

• Scheduling "Rules". Like other electronic calendars and similar applications not designed for customer, patient and student scheduling, business and organization operators can run into difficulty when trying to block off times, set open and closed days, and limit the number of appointments per time slot, day or time. Businesses and organizations must have the ability to control and tailor each day of its appointment calendar.

• Appearance. Outlook Calendar offers few options to users for customizing its appearance. And customers, clients, patients and students will immediately know that what they're viewing is an electronic office calendar (if the business or organization e-mail the calendar or allows access to it). This can convey a less-than-professional image of the operation.

WHAT ONLINE APPOINTMENT-SCHEDULING SOFTWARE OFFERS THAT OUTLOOK DOESN'T

Most online appointment-scheduling programs are what are known as Software as a Service (SaaS), a Web-based application that provides functionality unavailable in Outlook Calendar. Used by businesses and organizations large and small, scheduling service providers typically charge a small fee to use the software. And they're accessible in the same manner as online banking and e-mail. Users can set up and manage their account and scheduler by simply logging in with a username and password.

Since appointment-and reservation-scheduling is the basis for most online schedulers, they generally excel at identifying the specific needs of their clientele. Functionality found in most online appointment applications include:

• Secure and efficient online self-scheduling. Clients, customers, patients and students can book and manage their own appointments online in a secure setting devoted specifically to appointments and reservations. Although some schedulers allow users to post personal information, they usually allow them to block it out as well and only show information relevant to the customer, patient or student.

• Automated e-mail and text message reminders. "No-shows" can have a dramatic negative impact on business operations. Surveys have shown that appointment reminders can help reduce these by 50 percent. However, many operators do not have the time or resources to call or e-mail clients, patients or students prior to their schedule appointments. Although businesses can configure Outlook to send automatic e-mail reminders, they must first establish an interface with their clientele, as stated above. This works fine for in-office reminders, but it can be a challenge to accomplish this with customers, patients and students. Online appointment-scheduling software does this automatically, regardless of whether a person utilizes Outlook as his or her e-mail applications.

• Online payment of services. As more and more individuals rely on the Internet to schedule appointments and services, they're also looking to easily pay for them at the same time. Some online schedulers offer clientele the benefit of secure payment with their credit card. They may also offer invoicing options.

• Customizable templates. A visually-appealing layout or one that patterns a company Web site can show that a company embraces online appointment scheduling and encourages its customers to book online through a secure Web site or portal. To help design a scheduling page that best fits their individual preferences and focus, some scheduling software allows users to incorporate specific color schemes, images, logos and other objects.

• Record-keeping and report-generating capabilities. Outlook Calendar does provide limited database functionality for purposes such as record-keeping and report-generation. However, it may require several steps to accomplish this, whereas online scheduling software usually allows users to pull this information more easily and quickly. It can be as easy as selecting a few criteria in the search fields and clicking a button.

In addition to above items, software providers may also offer additional features not available in Outlook, such as packages, which allows companies to bundle numerous appointments and services; repeat-customer reminders sent after a specified number of days have passed since an individual's last appointment; and text message reminders, which can have an even greater impact on the number of "no-shows" than e-mail reminders do.

As with other non-scheduler software applications that allow users to book appointments and reservations, Outlook Calendar offers basic, typically in-house functionality. It can be a great tool for business-to-business and office-to-office appointment-setting. However, it lacks the crucial functionality to make it appropriate for a business looking to automate and improve its scheduling procedures. For this purpose, online appointment-scheduling software is the better bet.

Dealing With Size Limit in MS Outlook 2007 and 2003 Versions

Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 and MS Office Outlook 2003 have different formats and a different overall size limit for Personal folders (PST) file. Comparing the two, the Personal Storage Table files from the earlier versions of MS Outlook had inferior functionality when compared to the latest version of MS Outlook. MS Outlook 2002 and the previous versions created PST files that were in American National Standards Institute (ANSI) format and their overall size limit is of 2GB.

Comparatively, Personal Storage Table files created with MS Outlook 2007 version as well as MS Outlook 2003 version are in Unicode format. In addition to this, the overall size of PST files has a threshold size limit of more than 2GB that is imposed in ANSI based Personal Storage Table file. In the latest versions, the limit for Unicode Personal Storage Table file in MS Outlook 2007 as well as in the Outlook 2003 version is devised to be 20 GB.

MICROSOFT SECURITY ESSENTIALS LATEST VERSION

The earlier versions of MS Outlook, MS Outlook 2003 Internet Message Access Protocol Version 4rev1 (IMAP4) accounts and HTTP accounts use PST files that do not utilize the Unicode format. This is the reason why, PST files of IMAP or HTTP accounts in MS Outlook 2003 is limited to 2GB threshold size. Comparatively, Outlook 2007 has Internet Message Access Protocol Version 4rev1 (IMAP4) accounts and HTTP accounts that utilize Unicode format Personal Storage Table files and do not have 2GB limitation issue.

When a user wants to access data in MS Outlook 2003 or even MS Outlook 2007 PST file from a different computer having any previous version of MS Outlook installed or if the user has installed Outlook 2007/2003 and wants to remove the same to use a previous version of MS Outlook, then the user needs to alter the PST file format to ANSI. This change of format can be done manually, by following the steps given below:

1.Launch Outlook 2007 or Outlook 2003

2.Go to File menu > Data File Management > Add

3.Click MS Outlook 97-2002 Personal Folders File (PST)

4.Click OK

5.Type Name of the PST or accept the default name suggested by the software

6.Click OK

7.Now click Close

8.Click Folder List at the bottom of navigation pane

9.In the navigation pane, you will see your new PST file

10.Drag the PST file from your existing Outlook email client folders to the new PST file that you created

Outlook 2007 Keeps Crashing

Outlook 2007 is reliable and safer version to send and receive emails. This version of Microsoft Office Outlook is widely used among professionals. However, users are observing glitches with outlook 2007.

There is broad array of reasons causing outlook 2007 to crash/freeze/blank messages. Few of them are:

MICROSOFT SECURITY ESSENTIALS LATEST VERSION

- Expired or outdated version is installed.
- Extensions or Add-ins issues.
- Damaged Outlook data file (PST).
- PC common problems.
- Corrupted Windows Registry.

In order to fix the crash relevant to outlook 2007, it is essential to know the cause behind. Below are outlined steps to help you resolve outlook 2007 crashes.

a. If you are receiving blank messages then you should disable outlook integration or email scanning features of your security program you have installed on your computer.
b. If you are observing constant outlook crashes then you have to disable add-ins. Check your system for Acrobat 6, if it is installed then remove its add-in.

> If you have screen capturing software installed for example SnagIt then it may crash your outlook.

c. If your outlook also crashes on the uninstalling add-ins then you have to modify your Windows registry. To do that, please see the steps below:

a. Click on Start button and then Run.
b. Type "regedit" without quotes.
c. In the registry editor console click on

>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
>MACHINE
>SOFTWARE
>Microsoft
>Office
>Outlook
>Addins

Make sure path is "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins"

Here you have to change the load behavior for Acrobat, snagIt or other non-Microsoft add-ins to 0. To do this, right-Click on Load Behavior and insert 0 in it.

d. If your typing does not insert characters into the body of the message you are composing then click on To, CC or subject line and then click back on into the body. This is very simple but it works.

e. Create a test profile containing no email accounts. It won't be able send/receive messages so you can try adding the existing PST file to see if PST is not damaged.

Now your outlook 2007 should work normally, if not it means there is something wrong in system's registry. Windows registry is an integral part of operating system where it stores all secret information regarding hardware and software applications. If registry file is corrupted then your outlook may not be able to work.

How to Keep Current With Microsoft Outlook Updates

Even though Microsoft Office Outlook is a mature product, Microsoft continues to send out a stream of important updates. While potentially a pain in the neck, this is actually good news since it tells you that Microsoft is actively supporting Outlook by fixing bugs and protecting you against spam (junk email). But this means to get the full benefit, you have to be conscientious about installing each update when it comes out.

microsoft security essentials download

While Microsoft has tried to make this process easy and smooth, it still isn't intuitive or without quirks. Conceptually, the process is easy. You tell Outlook to check for updates, then download and install any of the available updates that you want. And this is where the first problem can arise.

MICROSOFT SECURITY

You don't have to install all the updates Microsoft offers you. One example would be updates for languages you don't speak. It's tempting to not install those. However, the best answer is to just install any updates Microsoft offers you. It simplifies your life by eliminating the need to evaluate each update that comes along and decide whether you want it or not.

My suggestion is that you check for updates about once a week, ideally on Thursday or Friday to accommodate Microsoft's usual release schedule. Patches normally come out only once a month, but if there is an emergency release, you won't want to be without it for long. It only takes a moment to do if there aren't updates available. If there are updates available, you want to get them installed as soon as possible. Setting up a recurring task to remind you to check is the best way to do this.

NOTE: Your company may have a policy about doing software updates that conflicts with the advice here. If yours does, you should always follow company guidelines instead of general suggestions like these.

While incorporating repeated Outlook updates may seem like a distraction from getting actual work done, if you incorporate the updatesover time you will gain a better-running program and less junk mail than you would have to deal with if you didn't install the updates. The reduced amount of spam (from improved junk mail filters that Microsoft sends as part of updates) alone makes keeping Outlook updated a net time saver.

Here's an outline of the steps you need to follow to check for and install Outlook updates:

Use your web browser to go to the Microsoft Office Downloads home page. Click the link that lets Microsoft scan your computer to figure out what updates you need. Select the updates you want to install and download them. Install the updates.

Those are the basic steps to getting Outlook updates. If you want more detailed instructions, you should visit a quality Outlook information site online.
